Part of the first tournament of the 2018 World Chess Tour, the Champions League will kick off in the German city of Essen on April 2 and will see four Italian sides play against each other in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
It is expected that both sides will play in their first major tournament in their home country as they both hope to make their mark on the sport’s elite competitions and will play their first matches in the Champions Arena at the end of May.
The Italian champions will be joined by rivals Milan who have won three consecutive titles, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich who are two of the three teams who have finished in the top four in the last three editions of the competition.
In the semifinals, Juventus will be facing off against a Bayern Munich side that won the Champions league last season.
The third-placed side will meet a fourth-placed team in the final, which will be held in the Austrian capital Vienna on June 5.
In other news, the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final will be played on June 8 in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
The first round is currently underway.
